The Interior of the Bridge

The Queen Mary was controlled and steered from this area. There is one brass colored telegraph for each of the Queen Mary's four steam engines. The discs on the windows spun round fast to get rid of rain on them even in the heaviest storms. The brass railings are an addition to keep tourists off the equipment.

View from Bridge

The View from the Bridge.

This is the sight looking out from the bridge over the Queen Mary's bow. The boats in the foreground are high speed shuttles to Catalina Island. The blue canopy on the Queen Mary covers the Bosun's locker where rope was stored. You can also see part of the rock wall which surrounds the Queen Mary.

Docking Telegraph

A Docking Telegraph.

This piece of equipment stands just outside the bridge on the Queen Mary's bridge wings. It was used to tell the men straining to dock the Queen Mary what the captain wanted them to do with the cables and anchors. They are linked to similar telegraphs on the deck below where the ropes were hauled in.
